Builder’s Responsibilities – Helpful Hints & Reminders

  • Set all locks on outside doors. This must be done using the 2 new keys that came with the Kwikset locks. Watch for more information.
  • Caulk exterior doors. Doors need to be caulked at siding gap next to trim mold.

Please read all of the information on the form.

Download the form and open it up in a free Acrobat Adobe reader. When installing, be sure to uncheck both the Chrome extension and the McAfee Safe Connect and click the Yellow “Install now” button.

Open the saved form and fill in the needed information. Save a copy for yourself and click the “Share” button in the upper right. You send the form, you will be asked to create an Adobe account by signing in to Facebook or a Google account. Once this is done, you will be directed back to the form and click the “Send” button. Email it to your SMI sales representative as soon as possible.

Remember:

  • Builders must provide specs and information for all installation requirements. For example: glues, fasteners, underlayment, etc. must be received by predetermined date to meet production schedule.
  • SMI is not responsible for any discrepancies, damages to product, missing parts, or any problems arising from receiving, handling, installation, or shipping of the builder supplied item(s).
  • Items not received prior to the start of production and/or items with incomplete/missing parts will not be installed. Builders will not be reimbursed for any costs they incur to install.
  • If there is product received that is damaged it will be the sole responsibility of the builder to return the damaged product to the vendor for credit. Replacement materials will be installed at the discretion of SMI if time is available before shipment.
  • Please make every effort to fill out as much information as possible. This will reduce the possibility of problems when the unit goes online.
  • We would appreciate the builder be present when the product is received so any returns or replacements will be handled in a timely manner.
