Why become a modular contractor? Why would I want to change from a traditional on-site builder? Why now?

Why, why why! If you are like many other contractors/builders that have not had any experience in modular construction, then all of these WHYs are GREAT questions. Here are some answers to the WHYs that will have you wanting to learn more.

Let’s jump right in.

Why would I even consider becoming a modular contractor?

Here are a few topics that will get you thinking.

Building modular offers better quality than on-site, stick-built construction. Why? The first reason is the weather. All of our custom modulars are constructed 80% to 90% indoors in a controlled environment and then delivered to the building site. Building materials are stored indoors and assembled during our five-stage indoor production line. No pouring rain, no freezing temperatures, mud, and snow issues to deal with. Cabinets, wood trim, flooring, and carpeting are all sheltered from the weather.

But, there is more to than quality than just indoor construction. We build our custom modulars to a higher set of standards than on-site built homes. Inspections are performed throughout the production process and regulated more than on-site construction.

Building with exacting precision is a big plus for the overall quality of indoor built modulars. Off-site construction provides specially designed work areas for each stage of the building process. Thus, allowing builders and craftsmen to use the latest in building technology, equipment, and tools. Walls, floors, and roofs are constructed from stored, dry wood reducing the risk of mold or mildew entering the home or project during construction.

Building Green

Every builder wants to be able to tell his customers that he/she builds “Green.” But do you? Building modular reduces the amount of waste on every project. Even the smallest piece of wood or drywall is saved and ould used on another project. The construction of over 120,000,000 new homes each year presents a huge impact of waste on the environment. A report by UK-based Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) found that construction waste can be reduced by up to 90% with off-site building methods.

Mostly, it’s your time! Wouldn’t it be nice to spend more time with customers or working on new projects? With our experienced staff, you get the benefits of our in-house design department, experienced sales team, purchasing (we order all of the products used during construction), a comfortable large showroom for your customers to choose their products and materials, and our experienced carrier team to deliver and set your modulars. Our team is here for you every step of the way. It is that easy.

Often, it is nearly impossible to get experienced construction workers in some areas. Off-site modular construction reduces this burden! We have full teams of skilled craftsmen and women who are fully employed and have been with our company for many years. You get the benefit of only needing the site prep and finishing crews. You may even be able to grow your construction territories with fewer workers. Think about that for a minute!

Why would I want to change?

“If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!” Unfortunately, the downfall of many corporations (large and small), who did not see (or want to admit) that change is coming. For construction, the change is here. The sad fact is that less and less young people are going into the construction and carpentry trades, making it more and more difficult for builders to get qualified help. “NAHB conducted a national poll (2016) of young adults ages 18 to 25 to find out how this age group feels about a career in the construction trades. The majority of young adults (74 percent) say that they know the field in which they want to have a career; of these, only 3 percent are interested in the construction trades.” (https://www.nahbclassic.org). This is a big concern for the building trades going forward into the next 30 years.
